In 10 days I'll probably get convicted of a DUI when I show up to court.

My insurance policy just expired. I'm thinking of going with a different company. Any idea what company won't raise my rates too much when I get the DUI? How long will it take my insurance company to raise my rates? Do I have to contact them? What's the best way to go about this?

When they raise my rates do I have the option to cancel or am I stuck in the contract?

Thanks.
I already paid my debt to society and to God.. No one was injured. I lost my job, was homeless for 6 months, almost died several times, and had my life pretty much crushed.

Is it right to send someone to jail for DUI?

I'm looking at some jail time for DUI. I know I shouldn't have done but I was only slightly over the limit and I don't think it's right that I could end up in jail just for making a mistake. I could lose my job over this and I haven't really been in any trouble before and haven't hurt anybody like lots of people who go to jail. Why are the laws so strict about this now?

What jobs can a felon get? Particularly a DUI or drug charge?

I'm working as a substance abuse counselor and I'm going to do a project with my clients where I teach them some job skills and hopefully help them look for a job.

I was wondering what kind of jobs a felon can get, particularly if they have a DUI or drug posession charges(some may have 1 DUI or drug charge, others may have more, I'm not really sure). And also, is it even possible for them to get a job other then at McDonalds, etc? They're all drug addicts and many are on probabtion and recieve frequent drug tests that come up clean (if they don't come up clean they get kicked out of our program). We're in FL and my clients are teens to 50-somethings. Please be more specific then just "being honest" that's only step 1, I'm looking for actual job options here. Thanks.

I turned in my background packet for police job, what is your opinion on my chances?

3 speeding tickets in the last 7 years.

DUI in 2000

fired from one job due to abandonment ( it was seasonal)

I answerd yes to doing speed and marijuana ( more than 12 years ago and only experimental)

Yes I have driven without car insurance, however only when i paid late my insurance, during those lapses.

Yes I have paid taxes late before, resulting in garnishments.

That is pretty much all the bad stuff. What is someones educated/informed opinion?

Career implications of a DUI arrest?

I recently was arrested for a DUI on New Year's Eve. I cooperated, blew twice, once over the limit and once under, posted bail and got on my way. I graduate with my BA this May and I'm wondering how this will affect me?

I previously had been looking into a job as an officer in the military among other types of government jobs (FBI, NSA ect.). Most of the people I've talked to say that this one arrest won't end up being a big deal considering I have a clean record besides this and I just made a mistake. I plan on trying to get it expunged and doing everything I can to show that I learned and I'm remorseful about the situation. I'm wondering what the implications of this mistake will be for future careers, whether it be government jobs, teaching or other things? I feel like this takes the prospect of a military career completely off the table, but I've heard different things. I'd appreciate any help, thank you!

Pulled over in ND for DUI, 1st Offense. Have a Virginia License, will I have to deal with VA laws too? ?

I need some help, Got pulled over in ND for DUI, but got a VA license. I'm moving back in January with my wife. Can I still apply for a Restricted License? My job is an Electrician, will they hire me with a Restricted License? Will I have to do the whole VA DUI Charges on top of my ND fines & punishment? I've got a yr. suspended license, ASAP and fine plus an EVAL. VA has the same laws basically with the suspension, ASAP, Fines, and the Inter-Lock Breathalizer. Help me out, stressing out, he needs a job. Will he still find a job?
My husband got Pulled over 22AUG08 for speeding, he got a warning on it. But they took him in for open container & DUI. They didn't give him the BAC, but kept him over night. He pleaded guilty to his charge without a fight. His punishment was 1 yr. Suspension of his License 22 days after the incident, ASAP, a Evaluation (for treatment) and a .00 fine. Now with VA laws 1 offenders get a1yr suspension too, ASAP, and fines. Plus this Inter-lock thing. Will he be subject to deal with VA's laws since he has a License there? He hasn't resided there since Jan 2008, but will in Jan 2009. Is a Restricted License for work still applicable, since he will be in VA? How does that work? Isn't it like Double Jeopardy or something? I'm getting a new car, do I have to put him on my Insurance? I don't want too since he can't drive for a yr. This sticks on his Point System for 5 yrs right? Please help, trying to find a method to the Judical Madness. Thank You!

What do you think the chances are of becoming a police officer?

So I have had a rocky past. I had a possession of marijuana charge when I was 16. I was into a lot of drugs when I was younger, but thats the only offense and it may have been dropped. I had an underage DUI when I was 19 and that was dismissed also, but shows up as being dismissed on my record still. I also had a misdeameanor petty theft when I was 19 and I had that expunged off my record about 3 years ago. For the last 6 years I have stayed out of trouble and been taking pre-med and nursing classes carrying a high GPA.. I really want to attend the police academy, but all the talk of polygraph tests and the fact that its already challenging to get a job scares me. Although my record is clean now (had it checked through FBI fingerprint)...I'm afraid I may be looked down upon when it comes time to get a job. What do you all think?
