Driving Under Influence and Without Insurance?

The day before yesterday, my friend was caught by the cops, because of drunk and driving, and then, he was sent into the jail. He got 34 points in alcohol test. I took him out of jail at the next day. the car he drove that night was not his car, evenmore, that car's tag was expired and without insurance. Now, the cops charged him DUI ticket and driving with out insurance. anybody knows how this situation be charged? just pay the ticket will be ok or he will be sent into jail. I really worried about it and I appreciate for all the answers.

Me, my fiance and my 1 year old daughter were in a car accident just 3 days ago. We were hit by a drunk driver who swerved into our lane. Our car is damaged (not sure how much to damage is going to cost). Thankfully, since we were all wearing our seatbelts, no one was seriously injured. Just scratches & bruises and now aches. I did not have insurance on my vehicle but the other driver had insurance (as so the cops said she told them, we did not get our police report yet). We also went to the hospital after the accident to get checked up on to make sure we had no broken bones. We also do not have any health insurance. I was just wondering, should we sue the drunk driver? and if so, what can we sue for. For the mere fact that she could've killed me and my family, I want this women to pay. I live in Milwaukee, WI. Who are some good lawyers i can be appointed to? What will it cost?
FYI "mark c" i do not mean "make her pay" as in $$, i meant have her prosecuted to the extent of her actions.

Can I go file a civil lawsuit against the guy who hit and ran all due to a DUI?

The guy hit my car, parked in front of my house, and took off. The cops were able to catch the guy and get the police report with insurance information. It was determined the guy was under the influence and that is what caused the accident.

The insurance company is doing their thing.

Can I go after him with a civil lawsuit?

Hello,

About a week ago I was arrested for DUI while sitting in my car in a parking structure. I am very petite and was sitting in my car because I did not feel safe standing downtown by myself at 2am. I did have the keys in the ignition because I was charging my phone waiting for my ride to call and say they were there so I could run out and meet them. I guess someone saw me in my car while I was waiting and called the cops. The cops came and asked me if I was ok to drive and I told them no I was not and that I was just waiting for my ride. They asked me to step out of the car and take a sobriety test. I asked them why I needed a test when I just admitted that I was intoxicated. They told me that if I didn't step out of the car they could use force. So I stepped out of the car and refused the test. They arrested me and charged me with DUI. I did some research and found out that even being in the car with the keys not even in the ignition you can be charged with a DUI. So since I was in the car I am technically guilty even though I did not intend to drive and have a witness that can testify that she was coming to pick me up.

I spoke to a couple of lawyers and they each told me that I am guilty and could probably avoid jail by pleading to a lesser charge. I also found out that I can ask the judge to meet with me and prosecutor privately before the date of my trail.

If I cannot afford a lawyer can I still get a plea deal? Would talking to the judge and prosecutor and pleading my case privately do me any good? Where can I find the exact laws for DUI by state word for word and also for Moving Violations (not sure that it matters under the "physical control" guidelines but I'd like to learn as much as I can especially if I am going to have to defend myself)? Does the state you are in have to have a "safe harboring" law in order for you to use that as an example? All thoughts or answers would be greatly appreciated as this is my first offense for anything, I don't even have traffic violations, and I am terribly nervous and scared.

oh and I have already scheduled a meeting with an alcohol abuse counselor because I read that helps your case when you go to trial. I also have gotten character statements from the director of my work who is well respected in my community. Is there anything else I should try to get to help my case?

I was hit by a DUI driver at an intersection while I was running a red light carelessly, insurance coverage?

I got into a car accident last night when I was driving my friend back home. I was driving too carelessly and ran over the red light and got hit by another male driver. Fortunately nobody was hurt in the accident, the cops came, and ran some test on us and found out that the other driver was DUI and he was taken away.

This is my first car accident, and my first traffic law violation. I was given a ticket of 104$ for traffic light violation, and given the right to appear on the court 1 month from now.

I would like to know what will probably happens to me, what I should do, am I available for Probation before Judgement ? etc.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Car Insurance after DUI, term of penalty in Florida?

I was unfortunately tagged with a 1st time DUI with an arrest in Nov 2007. Then resulted in a no-contest conviction in Aug 2009. Until that time, I've always had a clean criminal record and the clean "Safe Driver" driving record. Obviously, this has changed now.
I've always had major car insurance carriers like State Farm, Farm Bureau, Allstate, and Geico in my past. Today, I still do and I'm rather fortunate that my rates have not gone up at all and I still get the safe driver discount. Shhh, afraid to say that too loud.
I'm curious as to why they haven't gone up yet, not that I'm complaining. I'm staying low profile for now, not shopping for better rates, nor changing any coverages. Don't want to raise flags.
Just wondering if anyone knows why this could be, and also if there would be any fraud, or denial to cover a claim, under this condition???

Additionally, if I continue to be the good driver that I've always been anyway, less the one night of indulgence and police academy cops gave me no quarter,
How long will I be considered a "high-risk driver?"
Also wondering how Florida handles this. Some blogs say it varies by state.
Also wondering when the start date of this record begins. The date of being pulled over, or the date of the court conviction.

Any insight on all this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm doing a report on DUI's and I would like to get some sort of national statistics about cops getting DUI's but I can't find anything. Obviously there's more to it and I love our law enforcement however I would like to get all aspects of the situation. Anyone find anything please let me know

I'm 20 yrs old, I got my first DUI like a few weeks ago..I was driving while high they say..I wasn't drunk at all but high so they say. When I took a breathalyzer it came back 0% Should this look better for me? They said they found a little under a gram of marijuana in my car..I was ticketed for missing headlight (didn't even know, was the real reason i got pulled over, failure to yield, no insurance, no seat belt..all BS..Judge said he they wouldn't appoint me a public defender because I wouldn't be at risk of serving any jail time anyway..and he gave me time to find a lawyer or to defend myself..I said i would get a lawyer but I'm just wondering how much that will cost my parents..Ive heard crazy shit like ,000..Sounds utterly insane! I wasn't even drunk...I live in Memphis, tn..Can anybody give me any ideas of how much this will cost? Because I mean if it costs even ,000 I'm just going to defend myself because that's just ridiculous..I doubt that much worse would happen if i DID defend myself..Someone told me at the level court or something it wont go on my record or anything like that anyway so there's no way in hell i would give an attorney that much fuckin money..Can someone help me out here
It was BS because they NEVER asked for my insurance! I had my insurance card in my freakin wallet..They just wrote a bunch of tickets
I will admit to the headlight being out but the seat belt, failure to yield, no proof of insurance are all bogus..Have you not heard of cops just writing tickets because they are assholes?

If marijuana is legalized in CA, then how will cops be able to test people for a DUI?

I'm all for legalization of marijuana for recreational use, but I'm concerned about the increase of people driving while they're stoned if the legalization bill passes.

Is there a way that cops test to see if someone they've pulled over is high from smoking pot?

should cops and judges be held to a higher standard on braking the laws?

like cdl drivers can be put in jail for driving they,re own vehicle with a .04 breath analyzes.and cops dont give other cops tickets ,or turn them in for dui.they let them go and take them home.same with judges.
