I’m 20 yrs old, I got my first DUI like a few weeks ago..I was driving while high they say..I wasn’t drunk at all but high so they say. When I took a breathalyzer it came back 0% Should this look better for me? They said they found a little under a gram of marijuana in my car..I was ticketed for missing headlight (didn’t even know, was the real reason i got pulled over, failure to yield, no insurance, no seat belt..all BS..Judge said he they wouldn’t appoint me a public defender because I wouldn’t be at risk of serving any jail time anyway..and he gave me time to find a lawyer or to defend myself..I said i would get a lawyer but I’m just wondering how much that will cost my parents..Ive heard crazy shit like ,000..Sounds utterly insane! I wasn’t even drunk…I live in Memphis, tn..Can anybody give me any ideas of how much this will cost? Because I mean if it costs even ,000 I’m just going to defend myself because that’s just ridiculous..I doubt that much worse would happen if i DID defend myself..Someone told me at the level court or something it wont go on my record or anything like that anyway so there’s no way in hell i would give an attorney that much fuckin money..Can someone help me out here
It was BS because they NEVER asked for my insurance! I had my insurance card in my freakin wallet..They just wrote a bunch of tickets
I will admit to the headlight being out but the seat belt, failure to yield, no proof of insurance are all bogus..Have you not heard of cops just writing tickets because they are assholes?

I’m all for legalization of marijuana for recreational use, but I’m concerned about the increase of people driving while they’re stoned if the legalization bill passes.

Is there a way that cops test to see if someone they’ve pulled over is high from smoking pot?

like cdl drivers can be put in jail for driving they,re own vehicle with a .04 breath analyzes.and cops dont give other cops tickets ,or turn them in for dui.they let them go and take them home.same with judges.

I have heard that cops sometimes use trick questions so they can search your car without reason.

I was pulled over the other day, it was a Friday night after Xmas and I saw at least 25 cop cars in a 15 mile distance, they were on the prowl looking for DUI’s I guess.

So anyway I did a quick u-turn in a residential area with no blinker and a bike cop got me. He I had nothing to drink but he still had me follow his pen and tilt my head back to see if i was drunk or been drinking.

He then asked me "when was the last time you smoked Marijuana" not if I smoked marijuana… is this a trick question?

I told him I never smoked, but if i would have said "yes two years ago" would that have given him the right to check my car?

I hope someone can help me with advise. I am legally separated from my looser ex. He always had terrible credit. So when his car broke, I had to take a loan on my name to get him a car. So the loan and the car is on my name. He was making payments when we were married. According to our separation agreement, he gets to keep this car as long as he is making payments. So far, he has not payed me for a month and it soon will be 2 months that he has not paid. On top of it, I just learned that he got a DUI and two tickets along with it (speeding and failure to stop at the stop sign). The car and insurance is on my name and he is just added to my insurance. Will the insurance drop me now, even if its him who got DUI? Will they increase my premiums? I am so scared, I have children, he is not paying me anyting and if now insurance drops me, I dont know what I will do. He can’t get a loan because his credit is bad, he is not giving me back the car so that I can sell it, the car is on my name so whatever this looser does, I am responsible for Has anyone been in this situation? Thank you for any input.
What do I do if he is not giving me back my car? Do I call the cops?

okay so my friend and i were in a car accident at 2:40am. i was at the back and my friend was driving. i didnt know how much she had to drink but everyone said she was fine.
so we were on our way home and i yelled to turn left and then she was about to change lanes and i guess she didn’t do a shoulder check, the car beside us hit her side.

moments later the cops asked if we drank. we both said yes. we admitted to drinking but she stopped drinking around 9-930 she said.
she has no criminal record, her history is clean.
The cops said theyre not gonna give her a ticket. but they did take her license away and towed her car for 24hours

since the cop said theyre not giving her a ticket… is she getting any tickets at all? would this be a DUI charge? helppp pleasee
since we admitted to drinking, she as the driver took a breathalyzer test.
she scored "warn" or 0.05 which is BELOW the fail. for class 5 drivers fail is 0.08 and above. but SHE IS A CLASS 7 (new driver) which means shes not even supposed to have ANY alcohol in her system..

A little less than a month ago I was arrested for the first time and charged with a DUI after an accident. After after a search of my car and person, I was also charged with possession of marijuana (7 grams) and paraphernalia, as well as underage possession of alcohol.

I know that compared to the DUI, the other charges seem insignificant, but all that alcohol and drugs that were in my car weren’t even mine (Just to be clear, I am very very guilty of the DUI and am not protesting it). The pipe, weed, and beer was my passenger’s/best friend’s (who is 23, and not a underage). The cops didnt even talk to him. I want to get a public defender and try to get out from under the 3 possession charges, but first I have two questions:

I spoke to the public defender’s office in my county and they told me i have to ask to be represented AT my arraignment. But, apparently I have to enter a plea as well? How would they expect me to enter a plea before consulting a lawyer? Are there any negative consequences for pleading not guilty and then changing your plea?

What kind of shit am I looking at for these drug charges? Would it be worth it to throw my main man down for them? I don’t want to lose my license for two years because of his pot.

This "main man" is a good friend of mine. If i wanted to, I could ask him to fess up to the charges. I just would prefer not to take that route. I’m cool with it if it’s just a fine and some drug school.

Oh, and I got arrested in West Palm Beach, FL by the way.

What it means? It means you beat the wrap you lucky SOB. I got pulled over blew a .06 they still took me to jail and booked me for a DUI. I was not very cooperative with the arresting officer. That may explain why he arrested me. 2 weeks later I got a notice saying charges have been "set aside" from DMV. 2 weeks after that I showed up in court as ordered. My case was not on the docket. I asked the DA’s office why not and they said, I could walk "lack of evidence to prosecute". So I did. Also remember only DMV has the authority to revoke your driving privileges not the criminal court. IF the DMV say charges have been set aside the DA aint got a pot to piss in. You can walk. They might get you for the speeding or what ever bs the arresting officer said was "probable cause" in my case they did not do shit. Don’t trust cops. Its this mentality that got me off. If I would have believe that cop I would have been screwed royally. Did not blow into the field sobriety tester and passed on the "Roadside Olympics". I told them to arrest me and take me to jail, they did. Since they had nothing to book me on they offered me the breathalyzer again. I took it but it was 2 hours later. I totally passed. Spent the night in Jail, car got towed, had to pay to get it out. ETC. cheaper than filing an SR22 sunshine. So yeah, you got off. But guess what I just got a ticket today for a california stop. IF you live in SF bay area be careful man. I have lived here my whole life (47 years) and have never seen it this HOT! Cops are enforcing everything.

My brother will be 21 later this year. He has two previous charges of possession of marijuana (one was while in care and control of a vehicle) which were both let off. He has recently been charged with both a DUI and impaired charged. Also, with those charges, he has fleeing the scene of an accident, and harassing an officer. He was seriously hurt, but refused EMT. There was one witness who is testifying that he should get charged a maximum penalty. His only defense is that when they arrested him from his girlfriends house, his mom did not give permission for the cops to go into his house. What do you think he is going to get in terms of punishment?

I got a dui without registration and insurance? The cops didn’t mention it although they could have found out later or just never mentioned it. If they didn’t know, could they find out later in court? The only reason I think they didn’t charge me with it, is because they let me get it from inpound when they could have put a hold on it. It just seems like it would have got mentioned during the arrest. I don’t think they would let me cut a corner knowing it wasn’t registered to me but being cool an letting me get it two days later from the inpound yard.
