I just recently got into a nursing school in California, which is where I received my two misdemeanor DUIs in. They are doing the background check on me now and I am really nervous. Has anybody gone through this before or know the law regarding this in getting into colleges??
Implied consent DUI question?
This question is purely theoretical.
Most state laws have a "implied consent" law that says the if and/or when you get a driver's license, you are giving consent to have a DUI test by police. My question is what if you never got license(yes, I know driving without a license) do implied consent laws still apply to you?
borrowing a car after dui in quebec?
Can I borrow my wife's car after DUI conviction, and be covered by her insurance? If I do that for several years and then apply for my own policy, would the DUI no longer affect the rates? How many years would it take?
Is DUI Manslaughter a charge thats able to be expunged ?
I was convicted of dui manslaughter 18yrs ago and I have been clean ever since then. But no one seems to think thats a good enough thing since as soon as someone see's it on a background check its pretty much over for me getting hired. Not only for that but for the fact the state of Florida will not ever let me have a license to drive again for the rest of my life. Not even a hardship permit for just back and forth to work even. Granted I know it was a terrible crime but I can't change what happened back then. I just changed who I am now which isn't nothing like the person I use to be back then. I also know everyone doesn't change after a thing like that happened to them either but some do and yet they are profiled along with those that haven't learned their lesson. I don't think thats fair to us that have changed our ways and have settled down the best we can but yet we are being forced into a hole cause of the laws.Just hoping the expungement will help with finding work maybe.
Driving Under Influence and Without Insurance?
The day before yesterday, my friend was caught by the cops, because of drunk and driving, and then, he was sent into the jail. He got 34 points in alcohol test. I took him out of jail at the next day. the car he drove that night was not his car, evenmore, that car's tag was expired and without insurance. Now, the cops charged him DUI ticket and driving with out insurance. anybody knows how this situation be charged? just pay the ticket will be ok or he will be sent into jail. I really worried about it and I appreciate for all the answers.

I'm primarily interested in finding out what the different consequences are. Are there differences in the fines,alcohol/drug classes, insurance rates, points, loss of licence etc.
Why does the NFL get a pass on its players being criminals?
If a player makes the news in the NFL offseason, its either because he was arrested, or he is Brett Favre. Most NFL players seem to have problems with the law, primarily DUI's and gun charges. But the NFL gets a free pass on all this, people don't view them negatively for all these criminal offenses.
Why does the NFL get away with this, when other leagues, especially the NBA still have to fight that "thug" image, when their players give back much more to their communities than NFL players.
