I'm 19 and made a bad mistake in January of 2008 and want to change my life. I finished 1 semester at college and got my CNA certificate. if you are currently on probation for the DUI, you may not enlist until 30 days AFTER probation ends. you cannot get it ended early just to enlist.
the courts have nothing to do with waivers.
the Navy will NOT Grant a waiver for a DUI that occurred less than a year ago. you need to stay out of trouble for the year to prove to the Navy that this was a one time screw up. the college is a point in your favor that goes along way to proving to the Navy that you are worth a second chance.
go to court and try to get it expunged, then you wont have a problem at all
OK the simple and straight of it, as long as you have paid your debt to society, meaning you have paid any court fees and fines, you have finished your probation period completely and you have no pending court dates, then a navy recruiter should get you to write a statement and send off for a waiver. if the waiver is accepted then you can join the navy. But bare in mind your debt has to be completely paid, no fines or anything. Good luck I hope you get in. the guy above me (no offense) is wrong however, even if you have gotten a crime exspounged you still have to report it to the military and fill out a statement and get a waiver, there is no way around it. bare in mind that even if you get in your chances of getting a job with a security clearnace are pretty much shot. once again good luck mate
You gotta go to court. Tell the judge you want to turn your life around and all that. You are so sorry.
Tell what you just told us, he may help you out. They do sometimes.
The security clearance, What they want to hear is the truth. You tell them hey I got a DUI when I was a stupid kid buts thats long gone then thats all they want to hear.
I had a TSSBI even though I got in trouble before the military. They understand its not a pattern. Lie once get in same trouble once and your done.
as long as you have no desire to be a helmsman on a ship, i see no problem with you joining the navy with DUI misdeameanor 1st offence as long as it not my navy
