I have to see a judge about a class B misdemeanor for DUI……? PartII?

I plan to just plea guilty and avoid trial? Is it advisable to write the judge a letter explaining myself ? I am very bashful and am affriad I will not be able to speak up when I am in front of the judge. I have never been in trouble before,I have 2 teens that would be home alone if I have jail time since their dad works out of town.Should I ask for deferred adjudication?
This is my first trouble with the law.

Writing the judge a letter and having it given to him before you are to speak to him would not be a bad idea. The judges are generally good natured about most things as long as you are respectful to him and his courrt ( meaning don’t come in dressed all funky, talk loudly or on a cell phone, or be smart with him). Most of the time the judges will walk you through the process. As for the part about having to spend time in jail…it really depends on your state law and if it is your first time or not. Here in Georgia there is a mandatory ten hour jail time for the first offense but you can get time credited for the time you spent in jail immediately after being arrested (unless for some reason you were not arrested)
You can also request to do your time (if there is any mandatory time) when your husband will be home from work.

It never hurts to ask the judge anything or to explain something you did not understand. Hopefully it will all work out for you.
