    Absolutely. The kinds of criminal charges that it takes to disqualify you are usually charges which indicate you would be a threat for abuse or neglect of minors or vulnerable adults. A misdemeanor DUI (regardless if it was pot or alcohol) is not a disqualifier. There are PLENTY of nurses who have (unfortunately) at times used poor judgment and had a DUI.

    I’ve seen RNs who steal narcotics from their employers only get a temporary suspension of their license.

    If you’re worried about it and don’t trust what I’m saying, contact your local state board of nursing and ask them what kinds of criminal charges disqualify you.
