Generally they will not hold that against you if you have all the other requirements and disclose the DUI during the hiring phase. As a school teacher you would be held to higher standard than most and should you get another one they could fire you on grounds of "moral turpitude." Any legal violations after you hae been hired must be reported to the central administration office within a few days of the offense. This would include anything that would be put into a police database including speeding tickets. If the district discovers later that you withheld information, no matter how trivial you think it is, you can be terminated.

I don’t know, call up the school district office and ask.

That is determined at the time you go through the teacher licensing process. On your application they would of asked you if you have ever committed a crime, and if you did they asked you to explain it. In my state they would most likely deny licensure with a DUI. At that time you could appeal and would have to meet with a board to try and get that decision reversed. It depends on where you are, in my state my cousin knew he would be denied licensure because he had a charge of PAULA. Him and I went to the same college. In our program you had to report to the advisors any time you got charged with PAULA, DUI, or any other charges. The reason for that is you would be dropped from the program. Which makes sense, why would you continue with a program that you would never get you a license in the end. You will have to check with your advisers at school or check the states education website. Something like that could be listed on the FAQ page or give them a call.
