What kind of penalty am I looking at for possession of Marijuana in Arizona?

I was stopped at the US Border Patrol checkpoint in Yuma, Arizona about 10 days ago. This checkpoint is located on the I-8 eastbound and is staffed by US Border Patrol and Customs agents. I had a small, personal amount (about 4 grams) of Marijuana in my car, and the drug sniffing dogs alerted the agents to my car. They had me pull over and asked if they could search my car. I said 'I'd rather you didn't" and they said they would put that in their report, but because of the dogs, they had probable cause to search.
They found the marijuana and a small pipe and gave me a ticket for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphenalia. The agent said he had no doubt the amount was personal and he also said that I wasn't they type of guy they were looking for. There was no DUI and after seizing the stuff and writing it up, they sent me on my way in my car. I have to return to Yuma in a few weeks to appear in court.
Does anybody know what I am looking at as a penalty?
If you have no priors and this is your first offense you’ll probably get charged w/ a misdemeanor offense get off w/ a fine and probation.
Lethal injection unless you can get Ron Paul to speak for you.
Notorious is probably on track, but the agents who confiscated your pipe and pot probably had a good time, huh?
Probation and a few hundred dollar fine. Not really a big deal. Good luck.
Federal sentencing guidelines don’t even call for any time unless you possess over 200 lbs. I’d say your looking at a, "you better not do that again", and a monetary fine.
hey man, they did exactly the same thing to me on the I-8 east just last friday. I have a court date in november now in yuma and i live all the way down in san diego where all this fire stuff is going down and i might be potentially having to evac my house cause of it. The dog apparently smelled my car and alerted the officers and had me do exactly what you did, then when they searched my car I was put into a holding cell, and after they couldn’t find anymore they told me i was good to go with a felony ticket for possesion of marijuana and possession of drug paraphenalia. I’m confused on my second charge because the only other thing i had in my car besides pot they caught me with was a lighter in my pocket…(is that why i got the 2nd offense? ) Anyway, i just wanted you to know that you’re not the ony one going through this. Any info i find out, i will for sure post. Best of luck.
ps- i had my herb triple wrapped in zip lock bags and had it sitting in a full peanut butter jar in the back of my car. wow…
