What does the Army Disqualify?

Is a ( ARMY) waiver needed for arrests or convictions only? My brother was arrested for marijuana & DUI in 1999. He never went to court and was never charged but was arrested. He went to DUI school to remove points off his driver's license in 1999. Will Army require a waiver even though he was never convicted? This arrest doesn't show up on the state criminal background check. Will it show up on a FBI background check? Does the ARMY disqualify for arrests or convictions?Thank You

    No charges ever come up on the basic background check, on the FBI it will, so if he lied and said he has never been arrested, they will catch on. They run fingerprints and names/alias’ up at MEPS.

    The Army cares if it was a guilty charge, if he served probation, if it was QWOFed (continued without a finding) if he did community service. Cause all those are saying "yes i did it and instead of jail time, i will do community service."

    A waiver is not necessary if he can get it changed on his record. Honestly, It should not be a problem since it happened so long ago and he wasn’t guilty.

    The Army DOES disqualify for GUILTY CONVICTIONS. But it is waiver-able, and in some cases you can get an "acceptance of policy" but that is last resort. Check with your recruiter.

    I think the army only cares if you were convicted. (found guilty). Being arrested isn’t bad. It is only if you are found guilty of an offence that the army will care.

    Some of my friends were in the Army BECAUSE they had convictions. It was either join up or go to prison. So if a waiver is required it’s just paperwork for the recruiter lol. If it’s not on criminal records then he will most likely just have problems getting a security clearance, and that’s not needed to join up.

    If you were guilty you may or may not quilify.
    You may be able to join but, you deffinily can’t
    be a army officer or commander. Go to a recruiter
    they dont take no sh*t, it’s not how it use to be about
    jail or military…..it’s hard to get into the military it’s an
    honor not a LAST RESORT…don’t ever mistake that.
