What are the chances that i can get a secret security clearance, and be accepted to Warrant Officer school?

I have a DUI on my military record and i admited to using marijuana before i joined the army, i have been in almost 3 years now. And the DUI i got off real easy with only a company grade, and a letter of reprimand. Just wondering if i should even put the effort into finnishing my Warrant Officer packet or not.......

    Finish your packet. I spent 4 years in a UH-60 unit and I worked in the S2 shop so I know a lot about pilots and security clearances and WOC packets. I’ve seen pilots with midemeanors on their records and 0-4′s with admitted drug use. As long as you can chalk it all up to experimentation and one bad mistake (DUI) then you should be fine. The government is more concerned with your immediate family members being Communist or radical muslims than they are you hitting a bong back in high school. Trust me, I can’t mention the specifics but I have seen people with way more issues than you get and keep TS clearances!!!

    Make sure your financial house is in order and you don’t have a ton of debt. I don’t know what your job is in the Army but as long as you are qualified and you have some good recommendations you’ll be fine. Just really drive home what is truly going to make you a great WO and a pilot. Do not put some dumb crap in their about just wanting to fly. You have to have something to offer the board that the next guy doesn’t have.

    You do not have a chance of getting Warrant Officer.

    There is usually a Chief Warrant Officer in charge of answering questions to enlisted personnel concerning becoming a WO at each base. Try finding out who that person is or just ask a senior WO (WO3-5) what they think your chances are.
    I am a civilian in the Air Defense Artillery Branch and I know they are always looking for good WO candidates.

    As long as you are up front with the things in your past, and given they are no more extreme than you already indicate, you should have no problems.

    If you have a felony, relationships with foreign nationals, money issues (severe debt), or current drug use… you don’t have a chance.

    I’m not sure how strict your country is about that. I think all active duty military officers are cleared for SECRET, though of course you also must have a need-to-know in order to get any specific information. If you get to be an officer and work at a job that requires a clearance, the brass will probably see that you get one.

    If you’re in the United States, you should realize that there’s a certain hypocrisy in the clearance system. You’ve had presidents who’ve smoked marijuana, snorted cocaine, and committed various felonies while in public office. Yet your presidents are cleared for everything, or almost.

    Not only that, some of the least trustworthy countries in the world receive very high bandwidth access to your classified information, and one middle eastern country in particular has had a track record of stealing information in addition to what they were given, then selling it out the back door to China and to the USSR.

    So who is the US government really keeping secrets from? Just you, buddy.
