First you might want to make sure that your prior record doesn’t automatically prevent you from ever service a public position like sheriff or deputy within Tennessee. If it’s a matter of convincing a judge and/or a prosecutor that you really want to make a difference, you may have to work your way up in the good graces of the local jurisdiction where you ultimately want to serve. Perhaps then you could have your prior plea offset or even expunged.

    Good luck either way.

Well your best bet is to leave the state you live in. There are ways to get convictions off your record. You have to go in front of a judge and he has to do that. Like I said though you need to move to another state to become an officer. I wish you the best of luck in your future as becoming a cop

The only way is to get a judge to clear your record and talk to you mayor

Good luck with that. Even if you can legally be hired in your state, as a cop you will have to go to court and defense attorneys will dig up your priors to attack your credibility.

I am in the same place someone stole my identity and caught a case in my name!! Wow you are in a tight spot because your state is the worst to get felony or misdemeanor cleared… so you may have to get legal counsel. After seven years its not to be considered but you have to have the records expunged or sealed… However some government agencies can sometimes still see this record. The cost for you filing the paper work may cost about a 100 dollars (if you do it yourself) or to hire an attorney it could run you about 1000! You can also write the governor and see if this individual will take care of it!! No guarantees!

Your DUI’s and prescription drug use are not going to help you. I’d be surprised if any department hired you.
