How bad is Marijuana Really?

As compared to most drugs, Pot is the least dangerous. Pot is not an addictive drug. For those who claim it is, anything is theoretically addictive, and there are some people who can become addicted to spring water. So to put it in perspective, Pot is less addictive than coffee. I have become addicted to coffee myself and have broken the habit. You get mild headaches for a few days. I have never had any symptoms for withdrawal from Pot.

Pot will cause some short term memory loss. It's harder to remember a 10 digit phone number. Beer causes the same memory loss as Pot. The effect is temporary and wears off completely. Pot has no long term affects on the brain. I have been smoking Pot for the last 25 years and I still test as a genius on IQ tests. My mental abilities have increased over the years.

Pot will give you the Munchies. You may eat more than you would normally. If you are on a diet, you should factor this in when deciding to smoke Pot. It could cause you to gain weight.

Pot is a sexual stimulant. It removes a persons inhibitions. You are more likely to agree to have sex when you are stoned. You are also more likely to not use birth control while stoned. Sometimes people get others stoned to try to get them to have sex when they normally wouldn't. If you are getting stoned with members of the opposite sex, be aware of this and realize that it can have this effect on you.

Driving on pot. The same with alcohol, someone 21 or over could drink a beer and not get arrested for a DUI, It should be the same with weed, you cant have more than one hit to make it an illegal DUI plus drinking one beer is 75% more dangerous than taking one hit. They could make it so you cant get stoned out of your mind and drive.

SMOKE ALL DAY EVERYDAY! LEGALIZE!!

I don’t think it should be legalized. It’s just one more thing to mess people up. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done my fair share of it..I just think it’d be moronic to legalize something like that.

Ha, its ok to do it at a party every now and then, i think. But i work with someone who has smoked pot for 20years. You should see how many times he looks at a box that has like 5 numbers on it. (cant remember any of them). He also said that he was a smoker, and an alcoholic; he said that quiting pot was the hardest thing he had to do. And he doesn’t recommend it to anyone. Him and i had a long talk bout it cuz i wanted to try it more frequently.

    I totally agree.
pot really isnt bad at all!

I think that drinking is actually worse than smoking pot and think that pot should have been legalized before alcohol.

You get way more messed up from drinking, when ur baked from smokin pot you are a lot more in control of urself than when your wasted from alcohol.

Also people tend to be a lot more peaceful and chill when under the influence of ganja, especially when compared to angry drinkers.

Theres also basically no medical risk with weed(besides greening which is NOT a big deal and not all that common, its never happened to me),whereas with alcohol a lot of people have died or gotten permanent damage due to alcohol poisoning, (it happened to me 2wice already except for the death or permanent damage)

So…if they can legalize alcohol they should legalize marijuana!

    SWED

    marijuana myths and facts

    Myth:
Marijuana Can Cause Permanent Mental Illness.

    *Fact:
There is no convincing scientific evidence that marijuana causes psychological damage or mental illness in either teenagers or adults. Some marijuana users experience psychological distress following marijuana ingestion, which may include feelings of panic, anxiety, and paranoia. Such experiences can be frightening, but the effects are temporary. With very large doses, marijuana can cause temporary toxic psychosis. This occurs rarely, and almost always when marijuana is eaten rather than smoked. Marijuana does not cause profound changes in people’s behavior.

    Myth:
    Marijuana is Highly Addictive.

    *Fact:
Most people who smoke marijuana smoke it only occasionally. A small minority of Americans – less than 1 percent – smoke marijuana on a daily basis. An even smaller minority develop a dependence on marijuana. Some people who smoke marijuana heavily and frequently stop without difficulty.

    Myth:
Marijuana is More Damaging to the Lungs Than Tobacco.

    *Fact:
Moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains a number of irritants and carcinogens. But marijuana users typically smoke much less often than tobacco smokers, and over time, inhale much less smoke. As a result, the risk of serious lung damage should be lower in marijuana smokers. There have been no reports of lung cancer related solely to marijuana.

    Myth:
    Marijuana Has No Medicinal Value.

*Fact: Marijuana has been shown to be effective in reducing the nausea induced by cancer chemotherapy, stimulating appetite in AIDS patients, and reducing intraocular pressure in people with glaucoma. There is also appreciable evidence that marijuana reduces muscle spasticity in patients with neurological disorders.

    Myth:
    Marijuana is a Gateway Drug.

    *Fact:
Marijuana does not cause people to use hard drugs. What the gateway theory presents as a causal explanation is a statistic association between common and uncommon drugs, an association that changes over time as different drugs increase and decrease in prevalence. Marijuana is the most popular illegal drug in the United States today. Therefore, people who have used less popular drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and LSD, are likely to have also used marijuana. Most marijuana users never use any other illegal drug. Indeed, for the large majority of people, marijuana is a terminus rather than a gateway drug.

    Myth:
    Marijuana Kills Brain Cells.

    *Fact:
None of the medical tests currently used to detect brain damage in humans have found harm from marijuana, even from long term high-dose use. An early study reported brain damage in rhesus monkeys after six months exposure to high concentrations of marijuana smoke. In a recent, more carefully conducted study, researchers found no evidence of brain abnormality in monkeys that were forced to inhale the equivalent of four to five marijuana cigarettes every day for a year. The claim that marijuana kills brain cells is based on a speculative report dating back a quarter of a century that has never been supported by any scientific study.

    Myth:
Marijuana Use During Pregnancy Damages the Fetus.

    *Fact:
Studies of newborns, infants, and children show no consistent physical, developmental, or cognitive deficits related to prenatal marijuana exposure. Marijuana had no reliable impact on birth size, length of gestation, neurological development, or the occurrence of physical abnormalities.
