A couple days ago this women hit my car. She was at fualt and she was also arrested for DUI. Her insurance company already called andtol me that they were going to assume liability and pay for the damages on my vehicle. My mother was telling me that that sometimes insurance companies will send you check for damages even though i did not report any damges except on my vehicle. I also was not injured. Has any one heard of this?

Mother is wrong. They only pay for the damages she caused. If you have no injuries, you’re not going to get any payment for non-existant medical bills, or for "pain and suffering". There’s no inconvenience pay.

Good to hear that you were not injured.

If your car was damaged, then the insurance company will work with you to get a repair estimate written for the damage to your car. Then they will issue payment for the repairs. If you need a car to drive while yours is in the shop, they should provide you a rental car. They will pay the daily rate and tax for comparable transportation.

No you will not get a check from the other driver’s auto insurance company. Your mother is wrong. Insurance companies do not pay out for damages if you do not report any damage on your vehicle. If your vehicle was damaged during the accident, you will have to speak to a representative at the insurance company and find out if you can take it to the collision center of your choice or if you need to go to a collision center approved by the insurance company. The insurance company will most likely want the collision shop to take pictures. They will then have an insurance adjuster determine what should be fixed. They will only provide a check to the collision shop for the repairs they approve. They will not fix damage that was on your car prior to the accident.
