What type of insurance?? YOU ALWAYS need to carry liability insurance on your vehicle – that will cover damages you cause to any vehicles you are at fault for damaging. Collision coverage would cover your own vehicle.

depends on your state. some require an sr22 filing. some just charge the points. i wrote in SD where you had to file the sr22 and am now in NC where you are slammed with 12 points

Most states require that you have an SR22 filing on your insurance. It will stay there for 1-3 years. The premium will be higher but check with Progressive. They seem to have the best rates for someone with a DUI. Many insurance company will not insure someone that has had a DUI.
