I got a DUI a couple months ago. I requested the DMV hearing and my license was never suspended because of a error in testing dates for the breathalyzer. So I entered the diversion program here in Kansas. With this program my license won't get suspended and at the end of the year of diversion the DUI goes away unless I get another one. So my question is whether or not my insurance is going to go up? I have progressive and I'm about to turn 21.
You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here – autoinsurance.maclenet.com
im not to positive but i think as long as you keep your insurance from before you got a dui then it shouldnt go up at least not to much higher but dont drop the insurance or it will be expensive to get new insurance
whatever you do stay out of trouble, right now you have not been convicted of anything, this is good, but if you have a brain in your head, realize you have an alcohol problem, I am not trying to point out the obvious, I have been there, I know how the system works, unless you have a CONVICTION ON YOUR RECORD, THERE IS NO RECORD. right now you are in the catbird seat, so do diversion, do everything you have to do, and be glad as hell that machine malfunctioned, if you had paid a private attorney, you would have gotten off completely, no diversion, nothing, (except you did not get a expensive attorney) play the game, and stop drinking, one thing I know does not work, don’t go ten years thinking you are ok, because the day you pick up that next drink, you end up in WORSE TROUBLE SO FAST, ITS UNREAL (EXACTLY MY MISTAKE, I figured after 10 years I was ok!!! WRONGO, BUCKO!!! I GOT IN WORSE TROUBLE FASTER. best of luck, the good news??? life without alcohol and drugs, means no COURT DATES, AND YOU have a lot more money!!!!
That is very tricky situation where you are not convicted of DUI yet, but still there is a pending period to be cleared. You can actually ask your insurance company without having to report your records. And you can have separate SR-22 insurance if you want while keeping the current one.
