Recently my friend received a DUI charge in the state of New Jersey,
and is waiting for his court date. He is 19, so I assume this case as an underage DUI.
He is worried about paying the fines and such, but I told him I would help him with it as much as I can.
What we're worried about is the amount of car insurance increase, and was wondering how much it would cost each month, or 6 months, depending on which payment method he uses.
depends on hs driving record, the type of car he drives, where the car is kept and a variety of other factors
he’ll be lucky if his insurance company doesn’t drop him
Thanks for your question.
Here in California, the AAA estimates that the average insurance increase for persons under the age of 21 is just over $6,000. California law, like many states, allows an insurance company to increase for three years, so that amount is an estimate, and a total, of the average over three years, meaning it is about $2,000 per year for that three year period. Ouch.
I hope this helps, but feel free to post if you have any other questions, as it is my pleasure to help.
