until you are 99 years of age-it will show up on your drivers history. if you are suspended and driving-the second charge shows up until you are 99. and the insurance company-well-they have a vested interest and they will request your complete driving record.

This is going to sound horribly confusing, but I would like to offer you the following web page of the California DMV. It tells you how long records are retained for the various actions that DMV may take. If you will scroll down to "DUI" you will find a short description of how they calculate the term of record retention.

It would be nice if it was a clear cut ’7′ years or 10 years, but you will find that there has to be an official starting point for when the term starts to run. In order to reach that starting point, 3 or 4 years may pass, so it can still add up to the figures posted by other people answering your question. But by reviewing this page, and where you don’t understand one of the other reference terms, continue to scroll to get that definition also. After a few minutes you can get an idea how it all works, and how one term is dependant on the length of a previous action term, such as the actual suspension or revokation.
