...well actually my dad just gave me a car and I need to put it in my name but because I dont have a license or insurance Im not sure how to go about this. I know I have to have insurance to get my license back, and file an SR-22 with the state (Im in Calif.) but I just dont know what order to do this all in. Can someone give me some advice please? Thanks so much.
PS. I know getting a DUI is irresponsible and everything, believe me I do, so just serious responses to my above question will be greatly appreciated. : )
Thanks.
I am not sure with the process in California, but I would definitely call your prospective insurance company. They will be able to walk you through the process to make it as quick and easy as possible. Best of luck!
I think if you had a DUI that recently you can only drive to and from work. (one of my friends is in this situation) But I’m pretty sure that the insurance fee will be outrageously high. Hope everything works out.
You need to file for your license from the state you live in. I don’t know how much it costs where you come from but up north it is a pretty penny. After that you get the SR-22 filed and get that pricey insurance.
Good luck!
For many people, insurance is a bewildering topic. Most people know that they need insurance, but don’t understand much about it. Furthermore, the law requires some insurance, such as auto insurance and mandatory workers comp. Other kinds of insurance make good sense because it can help protect and replace important and valuable assets.
When it comes to buying insurance, there are many choices and decisions. Because an independent agent/broker does not represent and work for only one company, the agent /broker is in a position to better advise and serve the customer by offering many alternatives.
While many insurance companies offer similar products and coverages, each company is unique with respect their own options, pricing, and many other variables. An independent agent’s job is know what those variables and options might be, advise you, the insurance customer, and help you get the best coverage for your specific need and budget.
You need to find yourself a local independent agent to help you. Luckily, in CA, SR-22 are filed by the insurance company electronically – in Texas, we’re still manual.
You also have agents out there that specialize in SR-22 business. Just look for the American AGents Alliance or Latin American Agents Alliance logos and I am sure you will find a professional that can help you with your dilemma! They can help you get your drivers license fixed, get insurance on your car and the nhead off to the DMV to ge the registration in YOUR name – not your Dad’s.
Good luck and I hope this helps!
ITS BEST IF YOU CONTACT YOUR LOCAL (DMV) DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
