So, I was driving and crashed with a traffic arrow trailer belonging to a private company,no other vehicles were involved, the arrow trailer did not suffer much damage but my car did an estimate of 000.The police came made me take the sobriety tests and the breathalyzer and charged me with DUI with property damage to another.I reported the accident to Mercury Insurance after spending a day in jail,I told the adjuster everything that happened including being charged with DUI ,and he told me they were going to take my car to a collision center to make an estimate.Today the guys at the body shop called me and told me the estimate was 000 including towing expenses and that I should receive a call from Mercury Insurance for further instructions.I have full coverage with Property Damage liability ,Bodily Injury Liability ,and my deductible for the 000 is 0.Right now I'm worried they won't pay for the ,000,So,Are they responsible to pay for my car damages even if I was charged with DUI?

Yeah, generally drunken driving is covered under your policy. Your vehicle should be covered. Trust me, your policy can still cover you even if you break the law. I had a claim where the crackpipe actually fell out of the womans car as the police were talking to her, we covered the damages she caused. I’ve had people arrested on a DUI and we covered their damages. The damages we wouldn’t cover would be if your vehicle was stolen and then someone crashed it, we wouldn’t cover that illegal activity. Or if you purposefully used your car to hit someone. As long as it was an accident though, you are fine.

i dont think it will cover it if you have a DUI

No, if you break the law insurance doesn’t cover it.
Reason- If you are under th influence you are more likely to crash, so they they can’t just pay anyone,
Even if you overtake on a double white line and crash, the lines are there to prevent it.
    And so on….

don’t drink or be drunk when you drive!
Your insurance wont pay it, and if they do your monthly payments will go up. Your license my even get suspended .
    Way to go~!

Yes they will, pay for the damage to your car subject to your deductible and pay for the damge to the trailer you hit. Most likely you will receive a letter refusing to renerw your policy. You will probably have to go to excess rates for your renewal. Forget about competing. Just be content you can get auto coverage at all at any price.

Because you caused the accident from driving over the limit. Your insurers may not pay you anything as you did not comply with the traffic regulations. you can also be held responsible for the repairs to the vehicle you were in collision with as well as your own. be glad you hit a vehicle and didn’t kill a pedestrian. I hope this makes you think twice about drinking and driving again.

The insurance company will pay damages towards the trailer as well as damages to your vehicle after you pay your deductible. With that amount of damage they’ll probably total your vehicle. You have insurance coverage regardless of the DUI or not. The insurance company will pay for repairs

yes you will have covearge. We cover stupidity every day.

By people saying you were breaking the law and therefore would not be any coverage. It’s also a crime to make and illegal lane change,
failing to yield right of way, speeding, and many other traffic violations but insurance pays for these every day!!!!

your deductible will apply to your damages. And yes, your insurance is going to go up…probably a lot.

(in the USA) Yes, they should pay. They may cancel you though but they are still obligated to pay
