If he has a CDL, he’s legal and what difference does it make? You can always contact Choicepoint. they have more information on people in the United States than the FBI is legally able to obtain. In fact, the FBI uses them sometimes to obtain information that they are forbidden by law to obtain.

I am not sure how all companies work but I work for a small company myself (less than 20 employees). Driving 15 passenger vans is a requirement. Prior to being hired my boss pulls their driving record to give to the insurance company. Every 6 months our insurance company requires a new driving record on every employee. That is how they would find out in my case.

Should your employee be listed on the business’s auto/business insurance, they will check him out and find that he has had a dui. If I was you, I would have a very serious talk with this employee, as your rates will be dramatically increased. He may have lost his license, or have restrictions on him driving. I would find out all the particulars, since should something happen while he is driving for the business, you as the owner could be in big trouble.

You need to have every person who operates a company vehicle provide you with an updated DMV report every six months.

If he does have a DUI on his record and he has an alcohol-related accident in a company vehicle – somebody else is going to wind up owning your business.

it shouldn’t keep him from driving your van and as long as he keeps a good record and no tickets on the van .whats the problem? If he had several tickets that would be different, how many drivers can say they have never ever drove while drinking?
