Good Luck.
5 years is a while ago, usually they look at the past 3 years. Could be different, but as long as it’s not a recurrent problem your rates shouldn’t be much higher than someone without…but the rates will probably be higher fyi.
most insurance carriers only look back 3 years. they even ask this question when applying for new insurance.
3 years for violations other than OVI (DUI). OVI is 6 pooints, as far as insurance is concerned.
for the situation like yours,I would like to suggest you have a look here

you should find something useful.
When it comes time for renewal auto insurance is one of the simplest ways to save a ton of money. You can get a simple quote at websites they always give you competing quotes.
I tell my friends about http://www.InsureAutoNow.info
The insurance company can SEE back as far as the state DMV keeps records – 10 years, or even more. As far as how long they can hold it against you, that varies by state, but is usually 3 – 7 years, depending on the state.
You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here – autoinsurance.undonet.com
