If you have existing insurance policy, then don’t report to the company. You can call up other agency for SR-22 separately. Choose that route, and you can keep both policies at the same time. Once your DUI case is all over, then you can stop this SR-22 only and keep the current insurance. This will cost you of course, but you can do this if you have budget.
Well your license will most certainly get suspended for some period of time and during that time they are bound to find out. Not to mention that after a DUI in most states you are required to have SR22 insurance which is nearly double the cost (for me at least)

It`ll be sometimes between the final disposition of your court case and the next technical renewal date of your licence .
Your insurance will likely be canceled ………. When you do get it back , expect to pay double or nearly triple the premium for several years .
As soon as you are convicted in court. They will either e-mail or snail mail your insurance company. expect it to at least double you might have to go to <court ordered > defensive driving and alcohol counseling, community service, a fine up to 500.00 dollars plus court cost and a hefty lawyer fee haven’t you ever seen those signs that say don’t drink and drive you will be caught? HOW YOUR HEAD FEEL THIS MORNING?
Insurance companies check records in groups. For instance A through D, then E through K, etc. When its your time then your rates will go through the roof or you will be canceled.
