    No they do not, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people believe this. It doesn’t matter if the drunk driver is making a claim for their own vehicle damages or if the car they hit is making a claim the company can’t say they won’t pay it due to the DUI.

    I have been a claims adjuster for 20+ years and if I could deny claims because somebody was DUI I could have saved millions of dollars over the years.

    Auto insurance policies and their provisions are governed by each state. No state wants to have a bunch of innocent people who got hit by drunks not having their claims paid. It is poor "public policy" and won’t happen.

    yes…. if you read the policy rules and regulations.. they cover themselves quite well.

    what are you making the claim for? was there an accident involved? if so, if the blood alcohol is over the legal limit – the "influenced person’s" claim will be denied for anything other than med pay – any passengers in the vehicle will be covered up to policy limits with further rights to sue
