car insurance spouse dui?

how can i get affordable car insurance after my spouse has DUI ? What if he choses to never get a license again? Do I have to kick him out so I can afford car insurance? I have a great driving record. HELP !!!!!!
We live in Florida.

    Well, one way to do it, is to buy a policy that specifically doesn’t cover him, if/when he drives. Then you won’t have to pay for his driving, but the INSURANCE won’t pay for his driving, either – even if he totals your car, NO COVERAGE. You pay for your car, you pay for the other car, you pay for all injuries.

    As we both know he’s probably going to be driving, it’s very, VERY financially risky for you to do that.

    Great question. Do you have one car or do you each have your own?

    Get him his own car if only have one car. If you have 2 cars then call your insurance company and exclude him from driving your car so your rates will not be effected. He will not be able to drive your car.

    For your spouse to get his license back he can get insurance through a high risk plan called "assigned risk". It is only liability so I hope his car is old and does not need "full coverage". Call the plan and ask for an insurance agent in your state and in your area.
    He can get the insurance even with a suspended license.

    depends on the law of the state. Talk to your agent and let her know that he has surrendered his license to the state, and ask her what to do. Once he gets his license, there is a 95% chance that he will have to have an SR-22 (assigned risk) and that will be expensive. There are companies that offer this with full coverage on a vehicle.

    To get a decent insurance rate, you would have to specifically exclude your husband from your policy (that is, if he wants to get a license in the future). If he does choose to get another license, he will need to get his own car, and his own insurance policy. Even then, insurance rates for him will be prohibitive.
