I'm talking about getting a harships license (the one that allows you to drive for work, school, or livelihood). I would be using my own car to travel around the city to see different projects and attend meetings.
Hardship* license or restricted license.

If you have been convicted of DUI/DWI you can’t drive anything until your license is restored. Then in my state you have to acquire SR-22 insurance which will cost you about $3000-$5000. a year if convicted for DUI/DWI

No you can not drive anything………………….

If the company allows you to drive the car, the insurance automatically covers you. Else you would be commiting a vehicle theft. As auto insurance covers the car and not the person, there would be no point in buying your own insurance for a car you don’t own and it also already has insurance.

You’d have to ask your company to be sure, but my guess is no since your license is more than likely suspended. If you have a restricted license (where you can drive to/from work) you may be covered for awhile, but when the insurance policy renews they will run a check on all listed drivers and if the DUI pops up, you’ll more than likely be kicked off the policy at that time. Better to fess up now and ask rather than waiting until it shows up later, in my opinion. The only other alternative would be to drive your own car and get reimbursed for mileage if they allow you to do that.

Don’t know where you live, but where I live, you can get a work permit. I doubt your company will let you drive with their insurance. If you indeed got a DUI/DWI, you’ll be learning a LOT about insurance and a few other hard lessons.
