6 Ways to Stop Drunk Driving

Drunk driving has been an ongoing issue not only the U.S., but in many areas around the world. Various organizations have tried different things to prevent drunk driving, but this problem keeps going on and on. It seems that every time you turn on the news, there's a report about a celebrity who's been caught drunk driving. This problem as become acceptable in our society. Some of the ideas that have been brought up to conquer this drunk driving problem include:
* Passing laws that prohibit open containers in public places. Some states also have laws that prohibit open containers in cars. Whether or not these types of laws have prevented drunk driving is actually difficult to know.
* Special designation on the license plates of people whose driver's license have been revoked or suspended for a DUI/DWI.
* Restricting nighttime driving for younger drivers.
* Monitoring repeat drunk driving offenders with electronic devices such as ankle bracelets or installing breath analyzing instruments in their vehicles.
* Requiring the government to provide more education in schools and information about alcohol and drunk driving to prospective drivers.
* Have more public service announcements on TV and the radio.
Perhaps more education, increased awareness and harsher penalties would probably be the best combination to prevent drunk driving. Moreover, creating a sense of social responsibility in our children could further reduce DUI instances in the future. Being consistent in advertising or literature is important in educating people on the dangers of drinking and driving. A one-time TV ad or newspaper article isn't enough these days to convince people to stop their bad behavior!
Confiscate the car on first offense.
I don’t mean IMPOUND (which gets returned). If the driver is afraid of losing their nice new car, they would think twice before planning to go drinking.
And if they didn’t think and drove drunk, that would be the last mistake because they would NOT have a car to do it in again.
Good Luck…
They should not be allowed to drive when they had too much to drink in the first place. If they go to a bar where they are known, hopefully they have some friends there.. and one of them will grab the key from them and either drive them home or call them a cab..and not let them drive or if they come as a group, they should be mature enough to have one designated driver who won’t drink.. who will drive the others back home that way a lot of senseless deaths could be prevented. Once a person is drunk, they can’t make rational decisions, if they go out and drive under the influence and someone gets killed then it’s manslaughter but it’s not cold blooded murder as this was not planned. A drunk driver is like an explosive device that is ticking.. it could go off any time. If it doesn’t it’s more luck than anything else.. plus the drunk driver also risks getting killed himself or herself or if he or she has passengers in the car who can’t drive, and all get killed, he has them on his or her concience also. If someone is found driving under the influence.. their driving license should be taken from them for a year. Maybe that will make them stop and think the next time. It can’t be seen as murder, it has to be treated as manslaugher considering the fact that some people get away with killing a person on purpose.. and only get 6 years imprisonment for willful murder, so killing whilst under the influence I hope if they survive and kill someone else whilst drunk, that this will trouble their sleep for many years and they will have nightmares and feelings of guilt.. rather than the punishment they receive from the law.. apart from losing their driving license..

How to decrease drunk driving – with underage people?
Hello, I am currently working on a speech that I will be giving relatively soon. I am looking for feasible ideas and suggestions of how to decrease drunk driving.
Some that I have come up with so far:
1) Increase awareness, educate and have commercials on the tv.
2) Make it mandatory for first time offenders to take a class, 2nd time offenders face more serious legal issues.
3) Increase the number of checkpoints within an area, this will discourage offenders from trying to drive, and if they are driving, the checkpoints have a higher chance of catching them before serious damage is done.
Much appreciated.
If the offense was committed in California, the case should be adjudicated in Juvenile Court and the record will be sealed. She must immediately consult an attorney who is familiar with drunk driving in Juvenile Court so that the case can best be handled in her interests.
If it was committed in another state, she also needs to see an attorney immediately.
Frankly, your chance of getting a govt. job is very bleak. You already have a police case and also have been convicted for drunk driving. These things go against you in securing a govt. job in India.
