   Not from California, but:

   Nationwide, the average total cost (fines, court costs, classes, and attorney’s fees) is between $2000 and $3000. This is in addition to however long CA opts to suspend your license.

   It’s not Oakland that makes a difference, it’s just being in California.

   * Four month license suspension (from DMV)
   * 24 hours in jail
   * Summary probation (unless you won’t accept it) with terms to include not to have *any* measurable amount of alcohol in your blood when you drive, obey all laws, submit to testing, etc.
   * Mandatory attendance at a first-offenders program, lasting several months.
   * Fines and fees amounting to $1,500 or more (likely more…depending on how or if you choose to defend yourself).
   * Whatever else the judge is allowed to do, but this is normally what is handed out…the law on this is pretty well defined.

   You’d think people wouldn’t do it, huh?
