Right…
you mean your first DUI.
AA meetings, fines, possibly jail, and a busted up liver if a person with one DUI keeps drinking to excess.
1 DUI – Possibly an honest mistake. The person will learn their lesson.
2 – DUI’s – Person will continue to get DUI’s until they either quit drinking or end up in jail or dead… but not before injuring someone else.
3 – DUI – Should be kicked out of their home state.
Depends on what state. In some, first offense is $500.00 fine and lose of driving license for a year. Some are tougher with fines up to 2 grand.
Call the local District Attorneys office to get an accurate answer.
Depends on where you are. Some places have no custody for a first timer, some places have considerable custody. The general rule is that you get a period of probation, a hefty fine, some sort of alcohol/DUI school, and various other probation conditions; some places also give you a license suspension or restriction.
depends on what state you live in, what you BAC level was, how many other tickets you accured the same time (like speeding or an accident or injuries) . Most areas have court stuff like that posted in the newspapers. see what they get in your area.
Every state is different- I have only one in PA- and what they did was gave me a summary offence program called ARD (I believe- it was a real long time ago):
1. Fine- $500 or $800- I forget which
2. License suspended- 1 month- but some states it’s 6 months up to 1 year)
3. DUI classes
4. DUI counseling- paid for out of pocket
5. Community sevice- 1 or 2 weekends picking up trash
6. Upon completion- the record is expunged- althoug hI am not sure if all do htis afterwards- it may be just a misdemeanor on your first DUI
I am sure that the other states have similar punishments.
Quite frankly- it is an abomination to crucify some one for doing something that even htough may be preventable, is not done maliciously.
