I got my DUI charge lowered to Impaired. What does this mean?

I live in Michigan, and my lawyer got my DUI pleaded down for me. I have to go to my final trial to find out my penalties in 2 weeks. Just wondering if anyone knows the penalties for impaired (ie. fines, driving restrictions, etc.)

    DUI lol, I’ve driven drunk a million times, but never got caught.
    You need to drive a car with good wheel allignment, so it’s much easier to keep the car straight. That’s probabally the sole reason i never got caught.

    And don’t drive too fast, or too slow. And stick to the side streets.

    My tips on getting away with driving drunk.

    Oh, and make sure your lights all work; you don’t want a pig to pull you over for a burned out tail light, and then have him smell the liquor on you.

    Michigan has some pretty strict laws on DUI. Not only the fines, but the cost of keeping your license. You need to pay a fee each year for the first three years… I believe it is $1,000, then $500, and $250 the third year.

    By pleaing to impaired, you avoid those fees. You also avoid mandatory jail time.

    Impaired driving will result in the same penalties as drunk driving meaning a fine, a traffic school program and license restriction.

    Your benefit for the reduced plea will be your auto insurance will less likely be canceled or placed into assigned risk. This could save you a few thousand dollars over the next few years. Your lawyer sounds like he was worth the investment
