If you have a PA drivers license and get a DUI in Ohio how does that work with the penalties?

Ohio can still enact all criminal penalties for the DUI. Ohio will also suspended your driving privilege in their state. Most states now have reciprocity agreements as well, so the Ohio DMV will contact the PA DMV which will in turn subject you to your own penalties and fees issued by the PA DMV. PA will probably also suspended your driving privilege.

PA can not take away your Ohio drivers license since it is state issued. But most states work with each other now and if you have a DUI in one state the other state supports the decision of the other. You need an attorneys help. don’t go at it without one.

You go to an Ohio jail and pay an Ohio fine. Ohio will suspend your right to drive a car in Ohio. However, they will also notify PA of that suspension. PA has a law that allows PA to suspend your right to drive in PA upon being suspended in another state. When PA suspends your right to drive, then you have no valid license and cannot drive anywhere in the u.s.
