YES – you CAN. Will you definitely – it depends on the judge, your lawyer and the state that you are in. Also, I’m not sure what state you are in – but in a lot of them, the drinking age is 21 – and there you have an additional charge. I have a very good friend who was 34 yrs old, VP of a company, no prior record – not even a speeding ticket – and got 90 days in jail – and there was no actual damage. He was, however, driving backwards down the interstate.

The college and grades make no difference.

You will probably not do any jail time. Fine, alcohol classes, probation, and loss of license for a first timer is the usual sentence.

College and being a good student might help, but depending on what state you reside, .212 is close to 3x the legal limit. A judge might decide to throw the book at you, especially because of the property damage. I know that you already know this, but you are lucky to be alive. Oh, and definitely retain an attorney.

No you won’t go to prison but you will have to go to dui school which they hold those meetings most any time. So with your busy schedule you should be able to find one. That you can go to without interferring with school.

You will be fined heavy and lose your license and have points against your license.

Your school might also put you on probabtion.

Oh you will have to pay for the property damage. You can make a payment plan with the court.

Whether you’re to be incarcerated or not, you need to take this as a wake-up call. You’re well on the road to alcoholism and driving that drunk is the moral equivalent to shooting randomly on a crowded city street. Get help before you kill somebody.

I have no expertise in this. I was just asked to write letter of character for a young man for this offense. Please DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.

You in college so you are fairly smart. Good student, probably means you are a good kid. May a stupid mistake.

I’ve been in court for speeding with these charges are read and sentencting is handed out. There’s not telling. Each judge, each courtroom, each state is different…..
