How long would the sentence be for a third DUI offense?
No injury, but driving on a suspended license. And why would they release someone until trial for this? Thanks. In California ...

In California
Sentence depends on where you are and the laws there.
In my town it's supposed to be immediate jail time but the sheriff has decided it's cheaper for the town to release all the habitual dui drivers on the bracelet and they don't have to serve jail time. If I get hit by one of them I'm going to hold the sheriff personally responsible.
Three strikes your out "law," comes into play now. Not a good sign…………
bepends on the state, most would probably be at least 3-6months
This totally depends on the state that you live in and the ADA or ASA prosecuting the case. You should call the District Attorney or State's Attorney's office prosecuting and ask those questions, regardless if you are the defendant or just a witness, there is no harm in asking.
In California a third DUI is still a misdemeanor, so the penalty can be not more than one year in county jail (A 4th can be a felony). The minimum punishment is Court probation, and at least 120 days county jail. A five year license revocation, and $1,400-2,000 fine. They might tack on a little more time for driving on a suspended license.
Edit: They released you because the jails are crowded, and it is a misdemeanor.
In California you will probably get pardoned.
If you lived in Beijing, you might get the death penalty.
If you lived in Moscow, you might get several years.
If you injured a member of my family……..
Guess!
I am not sure what the penalties are in California, but from reading the other answers they are less severe than in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania it would depend on your BAC and if all 3 DUI's were within 10 years. The worse case scenario would be 1yr mandatory with a possibility of 5 years, just for the DUI.
