    It will depend upon the states governing body for law enforcement that the post-trained police officer lives in or plans to try to work in.

    Those governing bodies (TCLEOSE is the one in Texas), usually have guidlines on those things. It all will determine on if you are convicted of the crime, how long ago it was, and whether you are on probation for it or not. There may be some other things involved in the decision, but you will need to check with the states governing body on law enforcement.

    Depends on whether the DUI resulted in a conviction of a felony, then he cannot be rehired as a commissioned police officer.

    While it may be possible depending on the rules of your states commissioning board in reality I would be very surprised that any Chief, Sheriff or competent administrator would hire you after a DUII.
