Hiring a lawyer is your best bet. Entering an alcohol program would no doubt aid in your defense. If you don’t the court will probably impose it on you anyway before you’re allowed to drive legally. I’m sure this mistake will be even more costly then your first one. Blacking out is not a defense in this situation. Speaking of which, when you see your co-workers again, tell them you won’t be drinking next time you get together. They should’ve seen you were too intoxicated to drive, so, they probably feel some level of responsibility. Get yourself in a program now so that the judge will see you are serious about not repeating the same offense. Good luck.

Wow, that wasn’t too smart. You won’t get jail time, but you will lose your license for a while.

Refusal to take the breathalyzer? Your license is gone for 6+ months, then you need to attend classes for reinstatement. Maybe no time served. What about the next time you go dark & can’t remember where you were, what you hit, or who you were with? When you see that crumpled quarter panel with hair & tissue clinging to it the next morning, are you going to begin watching the news or reading the paper in terror, praying that it was a small animal that you hit?

Lose your job? you are going to jail for a 2nd offense! You realize you could have killed someone who was innocently driving? What if it was a kid and mother/father coming home from school or a sports practice.

You need to go to jail. Pay for your crime, and keep you off the roads so you don’t kill someone. You have a serious problem. Consider yourself very lucky that the police caught you before you killed someone.
