Why does the NFL get a pass on its players being criminals?
If a player makes the news in the NFL offseason, its either because he was arrested, or he is Brett Favre. Most NFL players seem to have problems with the law, primarily DUI's and gun charges. Why does the NFL get away with this, when other leagues, especially the NBA still have to fight that "thug" image, when their players give back much more to their communities than NFL players.
if a nfl player like cedric benson gets suspended for 4 games for getting in a fight at the club, he just missed 25% of the season! if an nba player gets suspended 4 games, we’ll see him next week. and all the nfl fantasy nerds will freak out!
Cuz im a G
Simply because they are celebrities. All famous people get away with crimes easier than the average person.
They have the money to pay off the prosecutor… like in Donte Stallworth’s case.
If you are talking about Vick, he gets a pass, currently, because the investigation is not complete yet. He could have pulled the trigger himself or have been blocks away from the scene and be guilty of nothing.
Why should he be disciplined for driving by a crime, if that turns out to be the case?
As to the NBA, ask Kobe about the "penalty" for felonies committed by those scum.
You’re way off base and too reactionary. "Most NFL players seem to have problems with the law"? Not at all. It’s the small minority of players that make the news for doing stupid things. A vast majority of NFL players are law-abiding citizens. And they don’t get passes. They serve time and pay penalties just like everyone else.
Also, NBA players do not give back more to the communities than NFL players. Where are your statistics on that? The NFL gives back a ton of money and time to communities in their outreach programs and charities.
you do know that roger goodell is the commissioner right? he brings down the hammer
