What Year was the dui law passed that prohibited drinking and driving?
Virginia. I thought maybe it was one federal law.

    Which one? Assuming the US, there are 50 different STATE laws. All of then have been amended more than once since they were originally passed.

    Each state is different. Drunk driving has been against the laws as long as their have been cars and traffic laws. Each state has amended their laws many times. The version calling for a chemical test became popular in the 70s.
