Is having 2 DUI s on my record going to not get me into nursing school?

I just recently got into a nursing school in California, which is where I received my two misdemeanor DUIs in. They are doing the background check on me now and I am really nervous. Has anybody gone through this before or know the law regarding this in getting into colleges?? ...

Nursing school may not present as much of a problem as getting your license. Call the admissions director for the school of nursing at your college and make an appointment to speak with her/him about this. Your misdemeanors won’t automatically preclude you from admission to school or getting your license, but issues like yours are considered on a case by case basis. Each State Board of Nursing is unique. Each does things a bit differently. The important thing is that you do not lie when asked about any previous charges or convictions on your application. If you do, it will be discovered and that will automatically disqualify you.

As I’m sure you know, nursing school is competitive. For every opening, there are 10 to 20 qualified applicants waiting for admission. The fact that you were accepted is in your favor, but you may have some explaining to do.

two might show you’re a slow learner.

Unless these are drug violations, you shouldn’t have a problem.

Some people might think it’s a negative, but hospitals should be all for alcoholic nurses who drive drunk repeatedly. You’re out there generating business for the hospital emergency room as you wreak havoc on the roads, getting into wrecks and ruining people’s lives. If you hit a van full of children or a school bus, you could fill up the ICU just like that, and keeping a full census is what every hospital wants.

As far as i’m concerned, you shouldnt even apply for a position as nurse, sounds like being a drunk professionally should be what your applying for.

It certainly will not help you.

Do you remember now when you were saying, "My drinking won’t hurt anyone but me."
