There is no plan to raise gas prices to $5. (If gas prices do go up to $5, which has never happened in the U.S., it will be because of an unplanned supply disruption, something like Katrina.)

In the U.S., the government does not set gas prices.

Gas price increases are the work of private companies (or foreign governments), not the government here.

Not everyone has a few drinks.
    Not everyone has any drinks.

And not everyone who drinks drives after they drink.

Drinking does not mean you need to go to prison.

Drinking and then trying to drive, in that order, means that something needs to be done to stop you from driving until you are no longer drunk.

No. Actually, I’ve heard that AAA estimates that gas prices will go down for the summer, contrary to the usual pattern. Gas prices are lower in the US than in many places around the world. It’s not the government that determines gas prices, but the greedy oil companies [<cough> BP]. And with oil becoming more and more scarce, it’s only going to get worse.

What do gas prices have to do with DUI laws? You shouldn’t drink and drive. As a family member of people who were killed in a DWI crash, I think you should go to prison for the first offense. There’s no excuse to drink and drive – none!
