Im sick of people saying that a DUI punishment is not harsh enough!!! Take a look around the world no country has DUI problem like the US. The reason is no alternative... you go to a bar most people drink at night and there is no inexpensive way to get home... other countries government's punish people fairly too. The person who drinks here and there not too much and is a first timer there screwed crazy amounts of money and time spent. A wealthy person it wouldn't matter the government needs to find different ways of punishing people . Right now it is not working. Wasting so much time and money and DUIs are still in large numbers. The poor will learn there lesson and could be a possible TROG after all fines are paid and they lost there job but any wealthy drunk drivers its not hurting them.

Or we can just have better mass transit. And the laws are actually a joke.

  2. Gypsy Girl says:

In some countries, drinking and driving is punishable by death.

Check out a busy emergency room some Friday night (pay night for a lot of people)!

Watch the ambulances roll in and drop off accident victims! The red stuff on the faces of the people on the little beds is not strawberry jelly … it’s blood!

You say DWI punishments are too harsh. How about the problems drunk drivers cause sober drivers? Harsh enough for you?

I used to work in an ER … I’ve seen the carnage! No TV show has done it justice yet. Some drunk in a full sized car nails a compact car driven by some poor slob just trying to get home from work. After they cut the victim out of the remains of their car it’s a very quick trip to the hospital. Can the doctors save this guy? Hopefully! If the drunk had not been driving … they wouldn’t have to try!

We should jack the fines a lot more ($5,000 minimum for a first offense, $25,000 for a second, $75,000 for a third), insurance companies should jack the premium for drunk drivers (2X for a first offense, 5X for a second offense, no policy for a third). Impound the car the drunk uses … every time!
