Do you think that it is fair that Canada wont let a US citizen cross the border due to dui on driving record ?
Do you think it is unfair for Canada to ban you from their country because you have a dui on your driving record? Question, do we have the same law if not we should. If thats their law then it should be ours also. Sounds like a rediculous reason to ban somone from their country... ...

I don’t know where you been but we are on the terrorist watch list in Canada for torturing people. Canada put up on the terrorist list back in Feb. So what ever Americans do will be unfair.
It sounds ridiculous to me and I hope it changes. I think it would be great if all the drunk drivers emigrated to Canada.

THEY KNOW WHO YOU ARE…..
i think they need to leave the law. cause they (Canada) do not like people that can harm their country. and its there country. i’m part Canadian so i go up there ever year and they drive so much better then they do hear.

One of the duties of a country is to protect its citizens. That policy could be included as protecting or providing the common welfare.
I used to go to Canada every year..to Windsor, Ontario or Niagara Falls but not since 911 as there is too much trouble with getting in and it annoys me to spend my money outside the US..the Canadian money was worth a lot less and we made money going across and getting the exchange..I liked the food and entertainment and the casinos..but now that the exchange is the same as ours..whats the profit? also the Canadians come over here far more then the Americans go over there as the price of our goods and even gas is still cheaper…my grandparents came from Canada..but I am glad to be a YANK
For Canadians with impaired driving convictions trying to enter the U.S., it’s at the discretion of Customs and Border Protection. (Though, typically, if it’s just impaired driving with no aggravating factors, entry to the U.S. is allowed.)
Of course, the prohibition upon American drunk drivers entering Canada is merely a default position; it is possible to receive an exemption. There’s also a temporal element to the prohibition; if you’ve stayed out of trouble for a certain period of time after just one conviction, then you’ll be okay.
In my opinion, it’s a good default position, simply because of the ridiculously high recidivism rates for impaired drivers, and the frequency with which they typically offend. While it’s not universally true that ‘once a drunk driver, always a drunk driver’, it’s true far too often.
We have enough drunk drivers in Canada already; we don’t want more coming up here.
The law isn’t about "fair".
The Canadian Parliament doesn’t want drunken foreigners driving on their freeways. That’s their right to decide.

No, I think it’s perfectly reasonable. If you drive while drunk, you are putting everyone else’s lives at risk for no good reason, and it’s perfectly sensible to not want such people in your country. I don’t understand why states allow people with DUIs to keep their licenses.
i have a dui and i’ve never been hassled at the border.maybe it’s cause i’m always a passenger. if that’s true it is quite unfair.
