Do prosecutors normally make deals in return for guilty plea on DUI?

I got a DUI back in April. I blew .122 on the breathalyzer. I was wondering, if I agreed to plead guilty, do you think that they will drop the additional charges of reckless driving and misdemanor drug possession? This is the first time that I have ever been in trouble and I asked my lawyer to see if this is possible? What do you think? Especially those of you with legal/law enforcement experience.

    As a rule, the only time plea bargaining is employed is when the DA has insufficient evidence to put forth a solid case on a primary charge.

    Given your information, I would not see this as an option.

    they might, but why should they? they have you dead to rights. no real benefit to dropping those other charges. it’s not like you gonna show them where you buried the body or snitch on the others involved.

    this is gonna cost you a lot of money regardless.

    It depends on several factors; hence the saying "case by case." Things vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, your age, driving record, etc. You’ll more than likely be offered a lesser sentence if you plead guilty and agree to go into a drug treatment program during the length of your probation. Also, taking the initiative by enrolling into and completing a DUI school prior to your court appearance will look good in front of the judge. Doing all of this may or may not drop any charges but it may open up the opportunity to have your record expunged at the end of your probation and depending on the above factors.
