my husband got a dui. he was told that he could get his license back in 7 days, and then go to court for final decision. when he went to the p.d. to get the license, he was told he had to petition the judge after that 7 day period. anyone here familiar with this?? ...

I’m in the area. A coworker in my office got a dui/hit and run and drove right up to her sentencing. Unless you aren’t living in the county, something else is going on there; I’d talk to a local DUI atty,
Thats how it works. The police do not suspend your DL, the courts do, probably automatically under the law.
Only a judge can reinstate a DL.
Here in NY, its suspended also at arraignment and a judge can order a reinstatement or conditional lic, depending on prior record, factors in the arrest etc.
