A friend got in trouble with the law and now they are trying to deport him. Is there anything we can do?

My friend was born in Mexico but came here a few years back with his family. He graduated from high school 3 years ago. Recently he got in trouble with the law (DUI) and went to his court hearing and now INS is involved and they're trying to send him back to Mexico. I guess he had a student visa and it expired, but I'm not sure. I'm trying to find out if there is any way that my friends and I can keep this from happening. PLEASE HELP!
There is not a whole lot you can do.
He violated the law twice. First by staying in the US with an expired visa and second with the DUI.
He is not going to get a whole lot of sympathy from the people who enforce the law.
