Having a DUI accident is a mistake that is impossible to take back. If you find yourself in a situation where you've been behind the wheel while intoxicated and you've caused injury to a person or damage to property, you can expect to be facing some serious consequences. In this instance, you what to find yourself the best DUI lawyer money can buy to defend you. Depending on the damage caused by your accident, you may also be facing other charges. However, if the accident was only small (for instance, you didn't cause any injury to yourself or others) and you can prove in court that you had only had a small amount to drink, you may be able to get acquitted if you have a good DUI lawyer.
There have been many incidents where small accidents have been viewed as DUI cases when in fact they were caused by something else. In this instance, a good lawyer can demonstrate in court that you are innocent of a DUI charge. You may be convicted of a different misdemeanor, but as long as this is a relatively minor conviction compared to a DUI then this is a positive outcome for your case.
If you caused serious injury to a person, then getting off the hook completely is unlikely. Obviously, hitting a parked car will be an easier case to argue in court, and carry less severe penalties, than killing someone will under the influence of alcohol. Exactly what the penalties will be will depend on your state, but it goes without saying that damage to human life will be met with more severe punishment. You may have to accept that there will be some jail time and a large fine involved, but again even in this instance a good lawyer can help you reduce the penalty you will be facing and help lessen the impact that the conviction will have on your future.
Your other option if you are facing jail time is to settle out of court with the victim. Again, you will need a DUI lawyer who has plenty of experience in the field of DUI accident cases. Ask potential lawyers for a case history to see if they have helped people in a similar situation to yours, consistently. If they don't have a history of successfully depending people in your situation, then you are gambling with your future.
Since the keys were in the ignition you showed an intent to drive. You will be charged with DUI, a not-guilty plea will not work without a lawyer. If you have a lawyer, you have a very good chance in getting this reduced if this is your first offense.
While a lawyer may be expensive, without one, you will probably lose your license for the next 6 months and pay fines, let’s not forget the strike on your record. You need a lawyer, the potential legal ramifications if you don’t have one, their very cumbersome.
The lawyer will argue that you had no intent to drive and request for leniency, since lawyers get much more respect when begging, he/she will probably get what they ask if it’s your first offense.

I think my friend is in some deep @!%$ but you tell me. what do you think the typical sentence would be for?
my friend got arrested 2 days, they were at a park and he was with a bunch of minors and some were on shrooms at the time and some were just there to hang out but it was very obvious he was selling them. he had a little less than an ounce of psilocybin mushrooms that i know of. here are his charges:
Felony 11380 (A)HS, basically selling narcotics or what not to minors.
Felony 11379 HS, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
Felony 11378 (A)HS, possession of a controlled substance.
Misdemeanor 272 PC, contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
About a year ago he was caught for selling marijuana which later got reduced to a simple possession charge. a little longer than that he was charged with a DUI basically and somehow got a slap on the wrist for that to.
i would like to know what you think he will be sentenced with, and does he have a chance at all to go out on probation????
no F’in way man. its not like he had 20lbs of weed in the trunk of his car.
no freakinnggggg wayy. are you serious 35 years??? no wayyyyyy. thats not right

1st time DUI in IL, BAC=2.12. It was a very bad day. What should I expect in the evaluation?
Should I divulge any perscription medication I have ever or am currently taking? Will they ask me to sign a relase of my medical records? Will they do any substance testing? Otherwise my record is clean, and no illegal drug use. Thanks very much for your help…
Alive and well, and my attorney assures me I am not going to jail. Anybody else…?
How do DUI laws apply for someone whose coming into the states from Canada?
Where I live ours is that you have to be 21, have your full license (G), BAC no higher then 0.08, is it any different in the states? I would assume not so much with the being 21, having a BAC of no more then 0.08, but i’m not too sure how the “license system” works in the states? Say you go to the states with only a G2 and get pulled over for DUI, what difference would that make, is it recognized in the states?
Ugh… I dont need someone to repeat back what I just said….
