Cant afford to pay first offence dui fine, what happens next?
Was charged with a first offence dui. Was ordered to pay a fine but unable to do so after the time that was given to me to pay.

  2. Marty R says:

Do people go to prison for their 2nd offence DUI?
My brother has 2 second offence DUI about 4 mouths apart. What are the chances of him not going to Jail.

  3. jillette says:

Not very good. Check the state code in the state where you live. VA = DUI 2nd is 30 days min to 1 year max but 20 days are mandatory not subject to suspension. Also depending on his blood alcohol level could be more days as well. >.15 but < .20 = 10 additional days
    >.20 = 20 more days

what is the jail sentence typically for 3rd dui offence?
Okay so my friend is in jail right now awaiting sentencing on his 3rd dui offense in 10 years.. How long would someone typically get in jail for this offense. I know that the sentence is “up to 10 years in jail”, but I’m wondering what someone typically gets for this offense? 1 year? 5 years?

  6. ornery and mean says:

He can count on at least one year in jail, if the judge is a hard case for drunks the 10 year sentence is not out of the question.

Your friend is a really slow learner! Most drunks figure out that DUI is stupid and expensive after 1 arrest, a few stubborn idiots need a second lesson. IMHO the judge should hit your friend with the harshest sentence possible, maximum time and fines with permanently suspended driving privileges.

Your ignorant pal endangers everyone on the road every time he drives drunk. So far he has been caught 3 times … he probably drove drunk 100 times or more without getting caught.

The other drivers in your area will sleep a little better every night he is in jail, one less “crash looking for somewhere to happen” on the road.

Used to get a good look at the remains of people hit by drunks in the emergency room … once you see something like that … you can never unsee it.

  7. jimbo says:

will my first DUI offence in WI show up on a background check? i hear the first is only civil and not criminal?
I am concerned because I am seeking employment in Canada and wonder if i will be stopped at the border.

  8. Mike says:

Yes it will show up on a background check..

A DUI is a criminal matter not a Civil matter in all 50 states.

The points will come off your license in 3-5 years.

The offense will show up on a driver’s license record search forever.

  10. Shelly H says:

How long does it take to get a 1st offence dui off of you’re record?
