DUI Drivers Tweeting to Avoid Arrests under DUI and DWI cases

The criminal and investigation agencies have taken up the task of augmenting their enforcement laws in a bid to stop the cases of individuals who are driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. One of the main reasons for this is the drivers making use of social networks like Twitter to establish their so called 'guiltlessness'. What has been utilized in this situation is to establish check points and measures of sobriety. The checkpoints are helpful in taking out the drunk drivers who happen to be inebriated. They also help in creating awareness among the people.
Drivers who risk getting arrested are hence warned against getting caught in their drunken state. Studies have shown that the sobriety checkpoints are helpful in reducing the alcohol related wrecks or fatalities as drivers are constantly worried about going through the risk of getting arrested. However, some of them have resorted to technology which helps young drivers minimize the risk of getting caught. This is concerning the public safety officials as young drivers can now keep themselves informed regarding where the established sobriety check points are located. The concerned resorts are as follows:
- Tweets in Twitter
- Text messages on their cell phones
- iPhone applications which are made to point out the particular check points
All the above apps are being used to thwart police inspection for catching the drunk drivers. Despite the high profile campaigns for enforcing driving without the influence of alcohol, the widespread usage of technology is helping keep the offenders away. With young people drinking more than ever, it is a matter of growing concern as to how they should be checked and rectified. Now, those who frequent the clubs, pubs and bars can use their mobile devices before getting behind the wheel to avoid the sobriety checks.
People believe that the tweets which identify the checkpoints are identical to encountering the cops themselves. However, the cops do not specify the perfect location of the sobriety checkpoints which means that even if the drunk drivers are vaguely informed, they are distracted by their cell phones, which help them become easy to locate by the cops.
Don’t drink and drive don’t worry.
Do dwi checkpoints violate the constitution?
I thought you could not pull people over and check them without probable cause.
How are DWI checkpoints legal?
|Don’t police have to have a reason to suspect you are drinking and driving like if you are swerving or running stop signs. how can they just randomly stop and check you? Isn’t that some form of illegal search?
does anyone know where the DWI checkpoints are in New Orleans tonight?
The US Supreme Court ruled that they are Constitutional in Michigan Dept. of State Police v. Sitz.
Here is a link to the case:

Edit:
I like the fact that I am getting thumbs down for posting something that is obviously the truth. It goes to show what I deal with every day I report for duty………arrogance and ignorance is at an all time high.
Why? so you can avoid them?
Get your drunk a $$ strait to jail.
A holes like you kill others who have the misfortune to share the same road as you.
Doesnt No refusal DWI Checkpoints violate the 4th and 5th ammendment?
This is a clear violation of the 4th ammendment. I refuse which is my right under the constitution and yet the law says we will take your blood and try to convict you anyway. This load of crap I dont drink and drive however i dont feel i should be forced to cooperate with the process.
First Bush pissed on the constitution with the Lets take away rights act(patriot) and now this my biggest objection to this is that the blood drawn is entered into a criminal database with felons and prisoners and permanetly kept on file.
What happens if they don’t announce a DWI checkpoint?
Someone close to me recently got charged with a dwi. He was forced to stop at a checkpoint and they caught him. We found out later that they never warned anyone in advance about this checkpoint. His lawyer says he has a very good shot of getting out of it. Has anyone had any cases similar to this and knows what will happen?
Constitutional rights are not absolute, the right of others lives must be taken into account and as many have been killed by drunk drivers, the Supreme court has deemed DWI checkpoints as being constitutional. I’m sorry, Scott B is right, it is implied consent and driving a motorvehicle is a privelage and not a right.
