Is there any real difference between drunk driving, dui, and dwi?
I know in come cases it can be different because the cause for the intoxication or influence may be different(drugs as opposed to alcohol, for example), but if it’s due to drugs, isn’t possession another charge altogether, and isn’t what the person did basically the same? Driving in an impaired state?
You can be charged with Driving Under the Influence or Driving while impaired for both drugs and alcohol. If only the drugs in your system are affecting your driving, and no other drugs are found in the vehicle or on you, you cannot be charged with possession. The term Drunk Driving is usually based on .08 alcohol level. Driving While Impaired could be for less content. Depending on the State Laws, it can be from .02 to .05 for being impaired, but not drunk. This is especially true if you are under 21.
How many times has George W Bush been convicted of DUI (drunk driving)-and is he still a raving alcoholic?
Is it embarassing for Americans to have a drunk in charge of their country-and does it affect his decision making?
Betcha the showjump bint looks like a horse!!
He was convicted once for Drunk driving, ran off the road and into a Bush (oddly enough) Cheny has two DUI’s. Bush was also convicted of Cocaine possession in 1973. He served probation and had his record expunged (its good to have a dad who was in charge of the CIA). He also filed false financials and defrauded investers in his company “Arbusto Oil” out of about $200 million. (Arbusto oil was the company started with financial backing from the Saudi’s and Bin ladens). Just goes to show you how united and powerful the Republican party is.
Should there be new drunk driving DUI laws in considering what exactly is over the limit?
I, like everyone else am getting quite sick of blowing into a breathalyzer everytime I get pulled over by the police… I’m a big guy with a big tolerance for alchohol and I think its insane that the legal limit in my state is .08
I’m proposing a new idea, and I’d like some feedback. As part of driving tests, along with the written and the road test there should be a drunk test. This test (which is optional) will give the new driver an opportunity to particpate in a supervised test of intoxication.
At this point, the driver can be assesed and appointed a CORRECT BAC limit and it will be printed on his license.
So, now if I get pulled over and blow a .14, I can legally drive away since my body can handle it.
I think this will help out tremendously with DWI arrests, prison cells and it will also help out restaurants and bars as they will sell more.
Its not fair that we are all punished because some lightweight can’t handle their beer…
what do you think?
just don’t drink and drive. don’t put my life or the life of my daughter and others in danger…stop thinking of only yourself..
HELP!! Need An Excuse For Missing DUI Class (drunk driving)?!?!?
A buddy of mine has a family event that he cannot miss tonight. However, he is scheduled to go to his DUI (drunk driving) class tonight. He wants to call in with an excuse on why he can’t make it, and how he will make up the class, but he does not want to say he is sick because they will request a doctors note. What should he tell them?
Should there be a National Drunk Driving/DUI List?
In America we are concerned with protecting ourselves from Crimes and acts that can lead up to them. For instance we have laws that register every sex offender in America to keep our kids safe. However, if you look at National Statitics over 16,694 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes – an average of one almost every half-hour. Many of these being children. So I think that if we are going to protect our children from one class of people, then we should also look at Drunk Drivers who tend to kill a lot more.
So he illegally drinks and drives, possibly putting my children’s lives in danger AND he’s a liar? He has a lot more problems than how he’s going to get out of a DUI class that he has to go to because of a bad decision tht he made. Hopefully he will make a better on next time.
Sorry I didn’t give you any advice on what lie to tell but I don’t feel sorry one bit for people who drive drunk.
Yes, there absolutely should be. There should also be one for drug convictions. After all, most of the heinous crimes committed lately against children were by people abusing drugs. Some were registered sex offenders and some were not. Joseph P. Smith, a cocaine abuser, was sentenced to death yesterday in Florida for murdering Carlie Brucia. He said he had used heroine and cocaine prior to abducting, sexually assaulting and killing her. He was not a registered sex offender. All of his past (24) convictions were for drugs.
The sad thing is that drunk drivers and drug abusers have a MUCH higher recidivism rate than sex offenders! So why are we wasting our tax dollars on the wrong people???
Please read the U.S. Dept of Justice report that was issued in 2003. It gives you these rates. It blew my mind away. If we want to issue cruel and unusual punishment it MUST be to all criminals, not just one class.
Thank You for this great question.
P.S. To the young man who states he is 17 and just got a DUI. You were lucky. It could very well have been consensual sex with your girlfriend while you were drinking and then she cried rape or her parents found out and pressed charges on you. You just really don’t know how lucky you are. Many 17 year olds are on the sex offender registries. Check FL, OK, KA, WI, IN, IL and DE to name a few. See how many young people are listed on there for statutory rape among other things that really mean consensual sex. Check ID’s of girls BEFORE you get near them. Also check the moral outrage link I have provided so you will know how to protect yourself. There is a link on the home page to the AOC (age of consent) for each state.
