It is true that the breathalyzers used by the Police typically register up to double your true blood alcohol content when compared with your true blood alcohol as measured by a competent and independent medical testing laboratory.
I had never heard of trapped alcohol in dentures and I doubt that would have been the reason for the high blood alcohol reading.that you received.
However there are a number of other reasons why the breathalyzer tests administered by the Police often register much higher than your true blood alcohol content

I blew a .11 with dentures that I had done has a immediate denture procedure. After a month they where ready for a reline and where very lose trapping food and liquid causing a higher BAC! I have done test with a $150 breathalyzer by swishing beer in my mouth spit it out and wait 20 mins and I blow up to .06. I am not trying to get out of my DUI but I know how much I had to drink and it does not match up with BAC calculator I should have been blowing around .04. My DUI happend in California.

The definition for drunk driving (in this state, MA) was defined as occurring when the keys are in the ignition, a person has a BAC of .08 or greater, and is in control of the vehicle. In English, that means if you are not in control of the car (different seat) and the keys aren’t in the ignition; no worries. However also note that you don’t need to be in the drivers seat to be drunk driving. There was a case where a designated driver was driving and one of his drunk friends reached around him and grabbed the wheel causing an accident. The guy who grabbed the wheel was drunk and was charged with manslaughter (death as a result of Operating under the influence). Also note, the vehicle doesn’t have to be a car, it can be a boat or any other machine operated by an engine to by OUI.
