Plead not guilty. Set a trial. Call the prosecutor’s office and ask if they will provide discovery without a formal motion. Most will.

How can I get the results of my blood BAC test without an attorney in Los Angeles, California?
I was arrested on May 23 on suspicion of DUI. I refused the breathalyzer test, and they took my blood instead several hours later. Does anyone know how to get the results of the BAC test without an attorney?

I recently received a DUI in Los Angeles and I’m wondering what’s the next step?
Recently, I was pulled over and received a DUI. At the scence, I took the field sobriety test and blew a 0.087% but when I got to the station, I only blew a 0.07% (30 min. apart). I was also speeding and got clocked at 90mph in a 65mph zone. Is there any way I can get the DUI reduced to a lower offense? Do I even have a case? Should I get an attorney? This is also my first traffic violation in 11 years.

How do I find a good Lawyer for my friend’s Felony DUI charge?
    Here’s the deal:
    1. he made an illegal U-turn in Los Angeles
    2. another car hit him
    3. he didn’t have car insurance
    4. he had a 0.14 BAL
    5. no known injuries
    6. this is his first offense.
    7. he is charged with a Felony DUI (not misdemeanor)

Does anyone know how to find a good lawyer who is not going to rip him off? Has anyone had a story similar to this? Do you know the cost of a specific attorney in Los Angeles County that you can recommend?

  7. MikeGolf says:

From what you just described – it is likely that the case against him is airtight.

They have his blood alcohol level
    He made an illegal u-turn
    He caused an accident

I expect that a good lawyer will attempt a plea bargain.

Get an attorney ASAP. They know the system and can get you the best deal possible. You won’t be able to beat the charge, but they can negotiate lower fees, shorter suspension time, and possibly shorter jail sentence.

Should I get a lawyer for a DUI? Is it better to hire one before or after my arraignment?
I recently got booked for a DUI in Los Angeles. My breathalyzer tests registered me at .16 and .13 (roadside and at the station, respectively). I’ve already set up a DMV hearing for myself and put a stay of suspension on my driver’s license, but I have yet to hire an attorney. I’ve consulted with many, but so far I’ve mostly gotten the same blanket reassurances from all of them, along with tips and information about the legal system that are downright contradictory with one another (e.g., some have told me the best plea bargains come at the first hearing, while others tell me the best deals come at later hearings). Is it worth it to hire an attorney? And, if I do, should I hire one before my arraignment hearing, or wait until after it, at which time I would have a copy of the police report and all the evidence compiled against me? Thanks in advance!
Basically, I’m wondering if I’ll get a clearer, more straightforward assessment of my case from a potential attorney if I wait until I have a police report/compiled evidence to present to him/her
So, everytime I consult a new lawyer, he/she ends up telling me, “the results depend on the facts of the case, every one is different. Hire me now, and I’ll be able to tell you more after I get all the evidence/paperwork”. That’s why I’m asking whether I should wait until I get the paperwork myself (at my arraignment) before hiring a lawyer, so that I can get a more concrete answer as to the possibilities of my case.
